This year when my birthday rolled around in October my husband had the most beautiful plans for us to celebrate. First he told me to go get dressed up and he had something special for me. So I got all cleaned up and put on one of my most classy black dresses, not knowing what was in store for me for the night. He took me out to a beautiful little restaurant in our local city. We had a delicious dinner and dessert by candlelight off to the very corner of the restaurant. We had the most romantic seat and we were able to sit alone. We both knew our 18th Wedding Anniversary is the day after my birthday, so we make it extra special together.
After our dinner we went to see a movie and he already had a luxury suite at a hotel in town. We headed there and we stopped off to get a good bottle of Red Wine, it’s one of my favorites. However once again I end up having this reaction to it. I totally break out in red splotches and hives as if I’m having an allergic reaction.
I have always loved Red Wine, but not what it does to my poor skin and the itchy hives are so horrible. I get them all on my neck and chest, down my arms and usually on my midriff, back and thighs. I had to go in to see dermatologist Boca Raton to see if we can figure out what is going on. I guess I cannot continue to drink my one favorite drink anymore. The more I drink the worse the skin irritation will get. So I guess I cannot drink any more red wine.
Aside from the skin irritation from the red wine it didn’t spoil our wonderfully bliss filled night. We enjoyed ourselves through the splotches of hives!

Well, at least you still had a great time, red splotches and all. 🙂 Alcoholic drinks don’t go well with me also. My skin doesn’t break into hives but I do get red splotches all over.

Arrghhh, I am not much of a wine drinker although I love collecting them lol. Glad you had a great celebration despite the allergic reaction.

We had a friend who was allergic to cheap wine. Sulfites in wine can cause an allergic reaction. Also note that in some allergic individuals that each exposure can increase the allergic response, up to and including an anaphylactic reaction, which can result in death. I am not a doctor and this is not intended as medical advice, however, I do have food allergies and my son has an anaphylactic allergy. Sorry your birthday was ruined. I am hopeful that you are able to sort out your issue shortly with your doctors.

I’m glad you enjoyed the night despite the allergy. I know how hard to have allergies because I have it also when eating too much seafoods.
